Stuck (Travel Piece) -Nada

There’s always a there where I want to be
A place unattainable
One that’s not really there
Maybe I just can’t find the way

I buy my ticket, fly overseas, yet
Often end up nowhere
Or somewhere in between
I’ve been to many places, countless cities, but how many of them count?

Sadly, there’s always a there, rarely a here,
A now that we cherish
And plunge into,
Are we simply afraid?

My body yearns to travel, but my mind,
Often elsewhere,
Is deeply rooted in where I was, am, somewhere that doesn’t exist
I’m in a place neither here nor there

Maybe it’s because we
Bring more than we should with us,
Carrying all that weight
Must leave us tired by the time we get there

Pictures, postcards, and pin-covered maps
Don’t fool me and I
Can’t help but wonder
What’s the difference between here and there?
